This is a weed that is usually seen growing by the wayside. It is largely unnoticed but the flowers are beautiful and the leaves are actually edible.

El Nido, in English means “The Nest”. This painting was inspired by a travel to El Nido, Palawan island. Gazing at the beautiful scenery, it felt to me that the boat was safely nested and protected by the towering limestone cliffs on the background.

It was a two-day trek to Mt. Mangisi, Bokod Benguet. In the evening, as we reached our campsite, dense fog gathered around us. Then the rain started to pour and it continued all night. We were drenched and could barely sleep. When I awoke in the morning and saw this pristine sight, the difficulties of the previous night seemed all worth it!
