Raquel C. Diokno

The Accidental Artist (Raquel C. Diokno) Raquel refers to herself as an "accidental artist". Everything began in September 2011 when somebody left his sketchbook with her and unable to return it back, she started filling it up. At the point when the owner at long last got back his sketchbook, he was dazzled by her aptitude. This is the manner by which she began drawing and proceeded with it for a quarter of a year. One of her "accidental” incidents happened again when two resident artists of a nearby gallery saw her sketches. They were intrigued as well and invited her to join the group. At the group, she felt "at home" and she chose to go along with it. At one point of time, her fellow artists stretched a canvas for her and so she began painting. In Raquel’s own words "After staring at the blank canvas for a while I picked up my brush and just go with the flow- the rest is history" Raquel is a self-taught artist whose works are mostly on conceptual painting but never shies away from other art styles. She considers herself as a passionate painter. Her emotion motivates her to choose for the components and shades of her works. Unlike most artists, she discovered her talent late because of which she is still developing her style. Her craft, most importantly, gives her greater satisfaction as an artist, but but additionally as an individual. As of the moment, most of her latest works now are heavily influenced by her surroundings and solid association to her roots, Benguet- Kankana-ey. Brought up in Baguio, she never really got that strong sense of her culture but consistently had been trying to uncover herself and been learning much as she can through the individuals that she meet. As a result, she still try to portray her culture in an appropriate manner while she still express her other ideas and never let have limitations on those ones. She tend to lean on the art styles of realism, romanticism, modern-contemporary and mixed media.

Be your own hero. Break from the invisible prison that either we created or our environment. Nobody can save you if you don't speak up.

The maiden, the mother and the crone all representing the womans life stages. In Greek mythology they are the goddesses Demeter, Kore-Persephone and Hecate. I do resonate personally with Hecate as she often comes through during my meditations. Her presence became more frequent in my life so to honor the old goddess I created this artpiece in her honor.

The imperceptible agony of suicide headache A little foundation to what a cluster headache is. It is professed to be the most noticeably awful conceivable torment, it isn't even a migraine however a very rough burrowing torment on one side of your face, similar to a demon punching your eye socket. Cluster headache or at times called the suicide headache is one of those uncommon ailments that is practically incomprehensible. In this art, I portrayed how a sufferer feels. I met a friend of mine who experiences this condition and attempt to portray it in subtleties and utilize that data to make this artwork. I've generally been propelled by my environment and the general population I meet. Make them as motivations to make and feature distinctive parts of life. Cluster headache is one of those ailments I've never experienced and seeing how crippling and life-altering it makes me need to advise individuals through visuals and endeavor to teach the manner in which I know how. At first, I concentrated on their family and friends for them to be all the more understanding of the amount they endure and what they really feel. What's more, putting that on visuals gives them an unmistakable point of view on what they experience through. I trust that this artwork would stir attention to the viewers and on the off chance that you realize a sufferer might be somewhat all the more understanding towards them.
